Rana Karadsheh-Haddad

IFC’s Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe
Biography
Rana Karadsheh-Haddad is IFC’s Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe. She leads IFC’s operations in the region, driving the strategy in sustainability, inclusion, PPPs, and digital transformation to enable private investments across the region. Ms. Karadsheh is also leading IFC’s response to the war in Ukraine while supporting the region’s governments to strengthen approaches for private sector growth. 

Ms. Karadsheh brings over 25 years of experience in the field of international investing and finance. Most recently, Ms. Karadsheh was the Regional Industry Director for the Real Sector across Asia Pacific, covering health & education, agribusiness & forestry, chemicals & fertilizers, construction materials, machinery, manufacturing, tourism, retail, and property. In this role, Ms. Karadsheh was responsible for the overall strategy, P&L, and development impact of an asset base of over $6 billion and annual capital deployment of $2 billion across debt and equity investments. She led the sustainability agenda in Asia through innovative products and platforms including IFC’s first blue loan and groundbreaking green and sustainability loans while also spearheading IFC’s $2 billion Real Sector COVID response facility.  

Prior to this, Ms. Karadsheh was the Country Manager for Singapore, where she led the Singapore office’s rapid growth across infrastructure investments and advisory, agribusiness, PE/Tech investments, and established IFC’s Asia Treasury Hub. Ms. Karadsheh was also the Middle East and North Africa Head for the Global Chemicals Group. Ms. Karadsheh’s deals included debt, equity, quasi-equity transactions in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East for new ventures, expansions, operational turnarounds and acquisitions. 

Ms. Karadsheh holds an MBA and an MA in International Economics from the George Washington University and a BA in Economics and French from the University of Michigan.
