Hadja Lahbib
Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and the Federal Cultural InstitutionsMrs Hadja Lahbib is the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade, and is in charge of the Federal Cultural Institutions since July 2022.
She was born on the 21st of June, 1970, and lives in Schaerbeek (Brussels-Capital Region). She has a degree in journalism and communication from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB). As a journalist for more than 25 years, Hadja Lahbib combined presenting the news at the French-speaking public broadcaster RTBF with field journalism as an international reporter. As a special envoy, she regularly travelled to conflict zones, particularly in the Middle East. She has also worked for ARTE and TV5 Monde. As a producer and director, Hadja Lahbib created various societal and cultural documentary shows. She is particularly fond of culture. She has presented, for example, the famous Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. In 2021, Hadja Lahbib was appointed to prepare Brussels’ candidature to become the European Capital of Culture in 2030. Hadja Lahbib speaks French (native tongue), Dutch, English and has some knowledge of Arabic and Farsi. |
