Annette Kroeber-Riel is Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Europe at Google. As a member of the executive team she oversees political strategy, and engages with senior politicians and regulators.

Annette joined Google in 2007 as the first employee in Berlin, building the public policy teams for Central and Eastern Europe. She supports policymakers in building an agenda for more competitiveness, through responsible use of technology and AI. Also, she led Google’s crisis response in Ukraine, fighting disinformation initiatives and helping secure the integrity of elections. Before joining Google, Annette had studied Law in Frankfurt and Paris and worked in legal roles in Germany, France, the USA and at the German Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. She specialized as an attorney in telecommunications and media at a law firm in Frankfurt am Main.

Annette is an advocate for an open web. For decades she has been supporting several human rights organizations, including Human Rights Watch. She actively supports women in technology and serves on the Council of Saarland University. Annette is an avid diver and freediver.
