Head of International Investment Engagement at the KSE Institute

Angeliki Varela is an investment and strategy professional with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of policy, finance, and governance. She currently serves as Head of International Investment Engagement at the Kyiv School of Economics Institute, where she leads initiatives aimed at mobilizing private capital for Ukraine’s recovery and integration into European markets. Her work focuses on designing blended-finance and de-risking mechanisms, connecting Ukrainian businesses with international investors and donors, and helping translate policy priorities into bankable projects across priority sectors.

Before joining KSE, Angeliki worked with the Boston Consulting Group and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, advising governments and private sector clients across Eastern Europe and the Middle East on investment strategy, public–private partnerships, and development finance. A qualified lawyer in Greece and New York, she began her career in M&A and EU regulation, advising on major cross-border transactions in infrastructure and energy.

Angeliki holds an MBA with honours from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania.
